Once upon a time, a tear fell from my cheek, and into the ocean. The day that I find that tear, will be the day that I stop loving you.

Not Platinum, but Gold...

Knowing that I have ample time to plan the menial details of Brandon and I's wedding, I would like to share with all of you a bit or two of my plans.

Certainly, today's weddings have become quite high profile, and platinum so-to-speak. The average cost of a wedding now is rising beyond a whopping $25,000! Ugh! I don't mean to sound so disgusted, but then again, maybe I do.

It's not that I would not want a million dollar venue, or a cake adorned with Swarovski crystals and a cocktail hour fit for a king. However, I tend to be more of a person of priority, and find that, spending perhaps 15G of that budget towards new furniture for our home, or even a new home to begin with would be a lot wiser of a decision than that Tiffany inspired monogrammed cake topper.

I could very well save up my hard earned cash and throw a party to rock the world of even newspapers for weeks to come, but, I would rather spend it somewhere that matters. I would rather invest it in Brandon and I, and know that we won't be feeling sick when we realize a year down the road that I spend my life savings on a party.

In all, we must remember what a wedding truly is. It is the binding of two souls into a legal union, one that is engraved for a lifetime into the husband, and the wife. It should be a reminder of love, and of commitment, and of course, it should be a gathering of the families to share, and laugh, and celebrate the joining of their names!

So yes, I am seriously budgeting our wedding. Not because im being cheap (HAHA!) but because Brandon and I will, more importantly, be needing more than just expensive photographs to help us lay the proper foundation for our marriage. :D

Also, thank you to my loving, wonderful fiance for always supporting me in my decisions. :D

My beloved twin sister...

I love her so much! Sometimes, we forget to say these things to our family, and whenever we can, we must let the ones we care for know that we love them!

I love Vanessa! Without, I wouldn't have the marinade to my Cuban Steak, the rice to my beans, the cream to my coffee! Though we sometimes have our sisterly quarrels, man do I love the heck out of her!

She will be my maid of honor for my wedding, the most important of them all...because Vanessa, is my life, my sister, my twin!

I adore my twin sister. :D

Oh, School...So what did you cook for him?

Some of you may already know, that I come from a large, loud, funny, loving, some what crazy, close, and particular, Cuban family.

I would like to share with you now one of those particulars...

I try to keep my sense and beliefs in marriage, traditionally Cuban, to a certain extent of course. I love cooking for Brandon, I love letting him grow to love Cuban food, but I also will not always have time to cook a monstrous Cuban dinner every night. Steaks, home-made Garbanzo beans, and fried plantains take quite a bit of time to prepare. Never-the-less, I will always try.

So therein begins my funny story. As I speak with the Cuban woman of my family, they rave about what they cooked the prior night for their husbands. Of course, eventually, they ask me what I did for the week, and I replied to all of them. "I worked, spent a couple of days with Brandon, lots of school of course,"

Their expressions glazed over for a moment, and as if they snapped right back to reality, they said back to me. "Ohhh, school, so what did you cook for Brandon?"

Not that they do not value education, quite the contrary, they feel school is a priority for a woman living in the U.S.A. But when it comes down to the bare bones of it all, you still, must always know how to cook.

Just another reason why I love my family. :D
