Certainly, today's weddings have become quite high profile, and platinum so-to-speak. The average cost of a wedding now is rising beyond a whopping $25,000! Ugh! I don't mean to sound so disgusted, but then again, maybe I do.
It's not that I would not want a million dollar venue, or a cake adorned with Swarovski crystals and a cocktail hour fit for a king. However, I tend to be more of a person of priority, and find that, spending perhaps 15G of that budget towards new furniture for our home, or even a new home to begin with would be a lot wiser of a decision than that Tiffany inspired monogrammed cake topper.
I could very well save up my hard earned cash and throw a party to rock the world of even newspapers for weeks to come, but, I would rather spend it somewhere that matters. I would rather invest it in Brandon and I, and know that we won't be feeling sick when we realize a year down the road that I spend my life savings on a party.
In all, we must remember what a wedding truly is. It is the binding of two souls into a legal union, one that is engraved for a lifetime into the husband, and the wife. It should be a reminder of love, and of commitment, and of course, it should be a gathering of the families to share, and laugh, and celebrate the joining of their names!
So yes, I am seriously budgeting our wedding. Not because im being cheap (HAHA!) but because Brandon and I will, more importantly, be needing more than just expensive photographs to help us lay the proper foundation for our marriage. :D
Also, thank you to my loving, wonderful fiance for always supporting me in my decisions. :D
